A little bit about me

My name is Miranda Mckeon and I am a 21 year old writer, actress, creator, and college student. I have been running my blog, now called “One in a Million,” for a year now and it has been one of my greatest joys in life. I am from New Jersey and go to school at the University of Southern California.

It’s safe to say that my life has been untraditional from the start. I booked my first professional acting job when I was in 6th grade and missed the first half of the school year to perform eight shows a week off-broadway in NYC. I then left 8th grade for a stint to complete my 200 hour yoga teacher training in Bali. During high school, I spent three years filming the Netflix series “Anne With an E” in which I would leave public school to fly to Toronto to film.

From the time I was little, I’ve always loved acting. I believe it bleeds through into my personality and humor, and I’ve met some incredibly special people along the way. My acting career is also most likely the reason for a fruitful Instagram following which played a part in why this blog exists today!

This bio got a little bit more interesting on June 14th, 2021 when I was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. With no family history, the stats for my age/diagnosis are truly One in a Million. I quickly froze my eggs, completed four months of intense chemotherapy, grappled with hair loss and physical trauma, had a double mastectomy and finished off with 25 rounds of radiation. I now take three medications for two, five, and ten more years. To keep it short: it was a wild ride

Here’s where I’m at now:

  • I am in remission (yay!)

  • I am continuing my studies at USC

  • I write on my blog, share frequently on IG, Tik Tok, YouTube, and am also working on a long form writing project.

  • I continue to be an auditioning actress

I have always enjoyed writing, but navigating the emotional changes throughout my encounter with cancer has made me fall deeply in love with this form of expression. Running One in a Million is a cathartic form of sharing my heart with others. I hope you may find, solace, healing, comfort, relatability, rest, and magic in my words.

XO,

M
