A Father’s Day Letter To My Dad
Dear Dad,
I know this Father’s Day is particularly unusual- just one week after after we’ve begun this wild ride together! Amidst the chaos I hope you still feel celebrated in the role you play as my father. I have -always- told people that you are my number one supporter. You are the definition of a girl dad. You are vulnerable and raw yet strong and confident, exemplifying all of the qualities I hope to adapt. You have taught me how to be a human with a balance. You have admitted that boys are stupid most times- and taught me that I deserve the most. I deserve someone who is a match for my strength, humor, humbleness, wisdom, confidence, and compassion. We are so alike! I am blessed to have taken on so many of your qualities. We are best friends and meant to be in each other’s lives, from soul to soul- I believe that to be true.
I know you may not have the words right now like you usually do. You hype me up and you tell me I’m beautiful and strong and I spread light. You do not need the words now. I know them to be true. This is so hard. This is going to be so hard. Please know that I have learned all that you have taught me- and that has equipped me for what I will endure.
Please take special care of your relationship with my mom! I know you are already- finding time to go on a movie date last night made my heart swell! Have patience, and see the cute little things she does and the way in which she holds our family together and recognize that she is all I want to be. I have always looked up to your relationship. The greatest gift to me is getting to watch you two do this in harmony!
I love you dad. As much as you love me, if that’s even possible. We are a beautiful match! I am me because of you.
Love your shining, intelligent, beautiful, strong, wisdom filled warrior,
Miranda
